Mozart Fantasia in C minor played by Theodor Leschetizky (1830-1915)

Finding this historical recording is like coming across some buried treasure in your attic! Such bold intensity of characterisation in the contrasting themes! Leschetizky was probably the most famous piano teacher in the world in the second half of the 19th century, with many of the greatest young pianists from all over the world coming to him for guidance. He didn’t really have a specific method of teaching though, according to Schnabel and others. For that you have to turn to Ludwig Deppe, who was a great teacher with a Method, and a book freely available on the internet!
